DR. STRANGE

WHEN I FIRST GOT IN THE CLASS I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I THOUGHT THAT MR.STRANGE WAS GOING TO BE LIKE ALL THE OTHER PROFESSORS I HAD IN THE PASS (JUST TAUGHT AND DID NOT CARE ABOUT ANY OF HIS STUDENTS) BUT AS I CONTINUED IN THE SEMESTER I REALIZED THAT HE WAS NOT THAT WAY AT, HE IS ACTUALLY A NICE PERSON WHO IS GOING TO TAKE OUT THE TIME TO HELP AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND ALL THE MATERIAL. I REALLY ADMIRE HIM FOR THAT. AND I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR MY PERVIOUS BLOG REGARDING THE CLASS I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE IT BACK BUT I CAN AT LEAST RE- WRITE A UNTRUE WRONG. AND THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE LAST POST

i Pods

From foreign language and music lessons to sharing photo slideshows to podcasts and more, the iPod's portability and digital content storage make it a great educational tool. Check out these sites for lessons, tips, and more on how iPods are being used in K-12 and college classrooms -- and on how you might use them in your classroom too.

Apple's iPod in the Classroom
Start your exploration into teaching with iPods by taking a look at Apple's official iPod in education site. The first page is a quick overview of some classroom uses of the iPod. The Lesson Plan page contains more than a dozen activities for a number of grade levels and content areas, with print materials and audio files available for download. The iPod resources section lists tutorials and how-to guides on recording audio and pushing information to other iPods. In the Learn More section, you can read numerous case studies on how iPods are being used successfully in both K-12 and collegiate classrooms.

iPod in Education
Although a bit difficult to navigate, iPod in Education is a great resource for the teacher who is comfortable using technology and wants to jump into using iPods. Begin by clicking the links in the Main Menu. The Download section contains several tutorials and tips on using iPods in the classroom, while the forum, available to members only, offers users an opportunity to share questions and ideas. The Reviews section lets members voice their opinions on the latest pod-related software, books, and accessories. Don't miss the link section as well for more resources on iPods in schools.

iPods Enter Duke Classes
In fall of 2004, Duke University gave each entering freshman an iPod and invited faculty and students to explore how the devices could enhance both the academic and student campus life. After a full year of the experiment, Duke now is offering iPods only for students in specific courses where professors have targeted plans to use the tools. This Web site details how the iPod made a difference in many classes, including nine case studies with audio samples and photos of students working with iPods. The site includes links to overviews of both the first year of implementation and the 2005-2006 revisions; both are helpful to the educator interested in learning from other's successes and struggles with the technology. Finally, don't miss the link to the list of courses currently using iPods.

iPods at Chapin School
The Chapin School, a tech leader among independent schools, now is experimenting with iPods in 8th grade. This Web site will evolve as the year progresses, but current resources include links to other iPod sites and quotes from several K-12 educators currently using iPods. But what is most valuable to educators are the e-mails, policies, and materials available here. (See the Class 8 iPod Information and What Kind of iPod to Buy links.)

Dr. Papert

Dr. Seymour Papert is a mathemetician and one of the early pioneers of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, he is internationally recognized as the seminal thinker about ways in which computers can change learning. Born and educated in South Africa where he participated actively in the anti-apartheid movement, Dr. Papert pursued mathematical research at Cambridge University from 1954-1958. He then worked with Jean Piaget at the University of Geneva from 1958-1963. It was this collaboration that led him to consider using mathematics in the service of understanding how children can learn and think.

Spread sheet

In a classroom setting a spreadsheet allows you to organize and effectively keep data in a desired manner. You are able to create columns and rows as needed complete the task of keeping a record of the students and their grades. With this process you are able to keep track of their attendance and academic progress while in your class.
Teachers are also able to use formulas to compile data so that they are able to keep track of students grades. This virtually eliminates the calculator aside from having to double check the data on the computer. I think that it is still important to keep a record of students grades in a grade book aside from the computer just to have as a back up in case something happens like the grades get changed.clickhere

Mardi Gras

I went to Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday, because it is just a day to me, yet some people take this thing to seriously for real. You have grown a@$ people who go down there to catch stuff and will fight over some beads, candy , bears, and moon pies; which I find ridculous cause they have Toomey's on Gov. Blvd and Hwy 90 if you want the stuff that bad by all means go get it. For that reason alone I don't attend until Fat Tue and even then I don't stay all day because the things people wear to get attention is sad and hurts my eyes the young and especially the old nasty people with tight little clothes on is so very sad. I also can't stand the drunk people it is sad and they look stupid, however aside from that Mardi Gras is ok, but people need not to take it so serious.

International Blogs

I found international blogging in the classrooms to be very much like blogging is done in the U.S.
As I have stated before it should be used as a great source of commuication amoung fellow teachers where they can their relate experiences in the classroom , as well as an outlet for anything that may concern or bother them about their students.

Blog the class!

I think blogging in class can be very useful because it gives the teacher the opprotunity to be able to express what they feel about things that go on in their classrooms with out verbally speaking. I can see it being used as a tool to connect with other schools around the country to give insight on how their classrooms are being ran as well as what things they endure on a daily basis from their students.

Class

When I first came into this class I thought the teacher was mean and the class was going to be hard. Now I see the class is not so hard and that maybe I was making it harder that it really is and I am glad I realized that now my semester can go on.

LIFE

I LOVE LIFE AND THE FACT THAT I UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN THINGS ARE NOT GOING THE WAY YOU WANT THEM TO GO. YOU HAVE TO LOOK PAST THE PRESENT TO THE FUTURE AND KNOW THAT IT IS GOING TO BE OK. I AM LEARNING THAT EVERYDAY.
